College Football=Parity

For the first time college football has reached a level of parity never seen before. There is no Goliath at the top that everyone throws stones at. You have a bunch of little David's running around trying to figure out who they should shoot for. Every powerhouse school has had that hiccup or stumble. USC had Stanford, Ohio St. had Illinois, LSU had too many overtimes to overcome. I really wonder though is parity in college football a good thing. Most of the time you argue is team A better than team B. Now you have to argue is team A better than team Z. I love the parity, but only if there is a playoff. No matter what team ends this season number one, there will be an argument for 10 other teams. As much as we love underdogs today in sports, they are made irrelevant by college football. Why do people know about Princeton, Southern Illinois, or George Mason? Colleges yes, but they were given a chance in a playoff system and showed that they could compete. Underdogs are what sports are all about. Everybody loves to see the little guy step up, toss in a trick play, play their ass off and make history. Every sports fan outside of the state of Oklahoma wanted Boise St. to win that game. Games like that show how amazing a playoff system could be. Imagine the match ups...Mizzou vs. Hawaii...UF vs. West Virginia...LSU vs OSU...UGA vs. Oklahoma. Let these teams put it on the field and play it out. TV Ratings would go through the roof. Everybody wants to see the best 2 teams battle it out to be the best. Every sport in the world, even other colleges do it this way. March Madness, NFL Playoffs, MLB Playoffs, it just doesn't get any better. It's just not fair to these kids for one little hiccup prevent them from having a chance to win it all. The AD's need to sit down with the BCS and work this out. It will be fair to the schools, the players, and me the fan.
